Welcome
back Brock students…I hope that you had an amazing and fun-filled summer
holiday! Another school year is about to begin and we hope to continue to
provide you with the best career-related advice and resources that we can. This
year’s blog writers will include myself (Senior Career Assistant), Nella
(Senior Career Assistant), Becky (Senior Career Assistant), and Ashley (Lead
Career Assistant)! You may even hear a bit from Ben (Senior Career Assistant)
and Brittany (Lead Career Assistant) from time to time.
I
would like to take this time to introduce our new Career Assistants to the
Career Services family!! I asked them each to write a little bit about themselves, their
summer vacation, and what they look forward to about working at Career
Services:
Anthony Mancuso (yes, he is
Lia’s brother!!) is going into his 2nd year of the Sport Management
program here at Brock and loves it! He writes: “My career
aspiration is to use sport as a catalyst for change in developing countries. At
Career Services I look forward to helping people discover more about
themselves, and also I look forward to discovering more about myself in the
process. This summer was the first time I went camping (crazy right?). My
friends and I camped up in Tobermory and we went bouldering and caving which
was wild”. Wow, that’s WILD Tony!!
Kelsey Osborne is going into
her 3rd year of Sociology and aspires to be a Wedding Planner! She
writes: “I am looking forward to working for Career Services because I want to
help other students at Brock discover their aspirations and then reach them by
using the resources that Career Services has to offer”. Kelsey spent her summer
“exploring British Columbia and falling in love with the mountains”. That
sounds like an experience of a life time Kelsey!
Erik Gunn is going into
his 4th year of Bachelor of Business
Administration – concentrating in Finance. His career aspirations are “to make
a difference in the world and to attain my CFA
designation and own my own business”. Erik Writes: “I look forward to interacting with new people and making a difference for students. Also I plan on learning a lot about myself and what I can do to brighten my future as well as others”. Erik was busy over the summer; he attained his full motorcycle license and planned a trip to Vegas for Christmas break! Sounds like a blast Erik!

Michael Pratas is working
towards his Honours BA in Political Science with a
minor in History and is entering his 2nd year. Michael aspires to “work
as a high school teacher or work in city government”. He writes: “I'm looking
forward to learning about the student job market and helping students get jobs
in the Brock community”. Over the summer holidays Michael planned trips to
Florida and New York for the fall semester! What a great way to start off a new
school year Mike!
I am
very much looking forward to working with our wonderful new team of Career
Assistants!! WELCOME Anthony, Kelsey, Erik, and Michael! We hope that you enjoy
your time at Career Services as we have all enjoyed ours :)
